Our specialty, with light tackle on the drift. Large Cod and Pollock are our primary targets, though we often hook other surprises, here lays your best chance of fish to double figures. Despite the decline of fish stocks in general, we have a rich and varied supply of wrecks in mid channel to target and now and then we experience a” red letter day” returning to Port with large numbers. I’m not a great lover of pirking with a string of feathers above, preferring to see a single lure used, with either a gill or shad. Red and Black colors are consistent, though I wouldn’t like to leave port without including the natural colors and orange in my tackle box. Modern and good quality 20 lb class rods will handle most fish on the drift, although you will require heavier tackle should we target Eels and Ling at anchor .May to August are prime months for wrecking with artificials, after which we often vary our tactics to include both live and dead baits.
